Emily AKA Toad

{Toad's Bio }

{Toad's Faith}

{The Fam}
My real treasures.
I love nothing more than to hear the words, "Mom, can I cuddle with you?"

{About Bob}
The Man of the House.  He loves to coach football, eat Thai food, go to movies, & play with his boys.   Love him.

{About Ethan}
This guy is my little buddy. I LOVE spending as much time as I can with him.  1st grade rocks.  Learning Mandarin via a dual immersion program at his school keeps him on his toes & he loves to sit us down for "school" and "teach us.  ;)

He loves legos, swimming, cutting anything, swinging by himself, and wrestling with his little brother.

{About Aidan}
Where do I start? He loves throwing and chasing balls, eating, running away from me, and doing exactly what I ask him not to. His smile makes my day.  Although he's a bright little guy he's in a "special needs" preschool for a speech delay challenge.  Fortunately, words are coming and frustration is slowly melting away!

Toad's Simple Patterns

{Simple Beginnings}
Not long ago I was reading through the "Brother" manual to figure out how to thread my sewing machine!  It was hard for me to find patterns and cute projects that were at my basic level that didn't make me what to swear, so I started creating my own.  Now YOU can sew too!:)

I cater to those beginning to sew, but even those who have spent many hours at the machine can enjoy these fun and EASY projects!  Listed below are my patterns for sale as well as all of my FREEBIES! Have fun!

{The Toad}
As a baby, my Gma J said I looked like a little toad swimming in the water when I took a bath...so as you may have guessed...I was nicknamed "EmmyToad".

{My Bio}
I was raised in the Northwest, but now live in Utah. I was the oldest of 6 kids {most of whom you'll read about on my blog} and after serving an LDS mission I graduated from BYU.

A few years later {although I was only 28 it seemed like FOREVER} I was set up on a blind date with my husband & since then my life has never been the same!  I loved my career in management before I had 2 babies, and now I'm at home running a business from a product I created called Camera Coats.

I love a good workout, learning about photography, my patient & hardworking husband, my 2 tadpoles, the Cheesecake Factory{Yum}, & the Oregon coast. I hope you enjoy my blog and a few of my "treasures"!

{Photos}
I love taking pictures. I have Nikon D40--the old school kind...I think they call it the D3000 now.  I learn as I go.  You know, the good old fashioned way!

{Sewing}
About 4 years ago I sat reading the instruction manual to the sewing machine I had gotten for Christmas.  I was trying to figure out how to thread the darn thing.

I couldn't read a pattern or follow most online tutorials to save my life.

So, I just started playing and creating things that I could.  Now I love to create fun little useful things, take a few pictures, and invite everyone else to join me in my fun.  It really is a great outlet for me.  My girlfriends from high school still can't believe I'm sewing, and I'm lovin' it!

Feel free to contact me at toadstreasures@gmail.com with any questions!

XOXO-

My Faith

{Inner Peace}
My faith is centered in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I chose to follow his example of baptism and joined His Church when I was 8 years old.   Although it hasn't always been easy, I've tried to keep His commandments and my life has been very blessed because of it.

Pictured below is my brother Peter with his son Greyson and my two boys Ethan and Aidan.

{Teaching Others}
The peace and purpose I feel through the Gospel of Jesus Christ motivated me to serve for 18 months on an LDS church mission.  I was asked to live in northern New Jersey and had many life changing experiences there. I posted more about my mission here.

As a missionary one of my favorite things to share with people was about a book called the Book of Mormon.  Most people have heard of the Bible and know it is a record of Christ's dealing with the people living in the Middle East.

The Book of Mormon is a record of his dealings with the people in ancient America.   Some Gospel and teachings, just in a different part of the world.  The Book of Mormon is amazing in so many ways, especially as it testifies of Jesus Christ and His Divine life and death.

{Study Abroad}
Another experience that solidified my faith was living in Jerusalem for 4 months. While studying at the BYU Jerusalem Center I was able to visit so many amazing historical biblical sites.  My favorite was the Garden Tomb where Christ was laid to rest.  There was such a special spirit there.

I'm so grateful for the knowledge I have of life's purpose.

Pictured below is the Salt Lake Temple. Temples play are at the central of our worship at Latter-Day Saints. For more about Temples you can see my post about them here.

If you have questions about my faith please visit this website.  It can help answer any questions you have.  If you'd like to check out a copy of the Book of Mormon you can just email me at ToadsTreasures@gmail.com.

About this Toad

{Hey!}

{Toad: The NickName}
I bet you are wondering why in the world anyone would call themselves "Toad"! {I would be!}
Here's the short, but such life changing story...

As a baby, my Gma J said I looked like a little toad swimming in the water when I took a bath...so you guessed...I was nicknamed "EmmyToad".  I guess it could be worse.  Until I started blogging the only people who ever really called me "Toad" were my immediately family, grandpa, and my old friend Josh O'harra.

So I guess its really not as bad as its sounds.  As long as my 3 brothers aren't calling me "toadsquat" and "toadface" I'm actually likin' it!:)
