Conference is here!

Where did the last 6 months go?! Are you ready for this weekend? For those that don't know, 2 times a year The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints {aka the Mormons} holds a "conference" for the entire church.

{At sunset} I took this last weekend as we were leaving the Conference Center. Love it.


Thousands of people head to the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake to hear the words of God through church leaders. Most of the other 13 million members all over the world hear the speakers by satellite broadcast. Here's the link if you'd like to listen in!

I personally look forward to the inspiring messages about all aspects of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...including how to be a better mother, wife, & person. The hard part is keeping the kids busy so that I can actually hear the what is being said. So, for those who may also be in a similiar situation {good luck to you all!}, here are a few links I've found of fun conference activities for kids!

{Bingo Cards} Here are some fun bingo cards! I love to use these during Sacrament Meeting too. We use cheerios, m&ms, fish crackers, or anything else we have on hand.

We also like to play different variations of bingo puting a treat on every square, and then when they say the word you can eat the treat!

Seriously, pipe cleaners?

So, our sweet 4 year old has been having a hard time going to church. I feel his pain. Regardless of your religion (or any long meeting where your kids must sit quietly), holding still and being reverent for hours is a lot to ask of anyone, let alone our little people.

I've had great intentions to make a fun little travel/activity bag (a actually bought a pattern on Etsy), but you know I'd blog about it if it was done.

A few Sundays ago I was trying to find little things around the house to throw in the diaper bag to keep the boys happy (and yes, it was as we were running out the door... and no, we haven't heard the opening prayer for many moons--working on it.) and I came across some pipe cleaners. I threw them in the bag and didn't think about again until I noticed something had been keeping Ethan's attention during Sacrament meeting. HMMM.....

I glanced over and he was having the best time ever with (drum roll please) pipe cleaners!! He only had 3, but was loving them. So, if you need something to help with your littles (or maybe yourself:) fork out the $.99 and get some. Its the little things that make life so fun...right?

Conference Activities!

Next week is General Conference for our church. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings & our church leaders (including our modern day prophet) speak to us. Its broadcast all over the world!

We are excited to go to St. George and spend the weekend with Marge and my Grandpa Johnson (Aidan's namesake)!! Hopefully it will be sunny & warm!

We always look foward to this event, but it can be hard for our littles to sit still the entire time. To keep my "little ones" ( aka Ethan :) focused I just found some great "conference" ideas, activity books & links online for those that might like them. I'm excited to use these during our regular church services too!
